Smart Logistics Expo at BITEC  connecting international logistics industry

Jurin Laksanawisit, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Commerce, presided over the TILOG – LOGISTIX 2023 opening ceremony. Held at Hall 98 of BITEC, the event also had the presence of Ekachat Seetavorarat, Deputy Permanent Secretary for Commerce, Varaporn Dhamcharee, Managing Director of RX Tradex, and a group of executives from the Ministry of Commerce and logistics agencies.

Jurin said that TILOG – LOGISTIX is a collaboration between the Department of International Trade Promotion (DITP) and RX Tradex; this 6th edition has returned as a  full-scale physical event after COVID. The logistics sector holds the potential to play a pivotal role in propelling Thailand toward developed nation status; therefore, the government gives its priority to the sector’s promotion and development whether it be 1. Logistics systems development, 2. Infrastructure development, 3. Enhancement of players’ potential and international presence, and 4. Fostering Cooperation to connect Thailand’s economic corridor with neighboring nations for the future of the country.

“In February, I led a team of executives from the Ministry of Commerce and Thai entrepreneurs to the United Arab Emirates to sign an MOU, which emerges as a pivotal linchpin in the strategic expanse of our logistical network with DP World in Dubai, whose extensive network covers 78 ports and 240 airports across six continents, with the ability to reach as many as 318 destinations. The MOU therefore provides Thailand’s logistics with a network that can boost Thai export value in the future.”

Thailand is now ranked 34th out of 139 countries worldwide in the latest international Logistics Performance Index (LPI) published by the World Bank and is ranked 3rd in ASEAN with the score 3.5 (out of 5) points, the highest since the World Bank started the ranking in 2007. Such results underline Thailand’s logistics potential and its readiness to serve as a gateway to ASEAN region as well as the rest of the world.

TILOG – LOGISTIX 2023 embraces the “Smart and Green Logistics for Sustainable Tomorrow” theme to keep pace with the growing trend of using next-generation logistics technology for environmental conservation. To run from August 17 to 19, the event is expected to generate trade value of over 4,000 million baht.
