"Asia Cab" helps combat blood shortage with “Donate Blood, enjoy CABB at half-price” campaign

Passakorn Dararattanaroj, general manager of Asia Cab Company Limited, the manufacturer and operator of CABB taxi service, revealed that the COVID-19 outbreak has scared away blood donors as they worry about the risk of infection on their way to the donation center. This results in a dire shortage of blood across the country.

CABB has, thus, joined forces with the National Blood Centre, Thai Red Cross Society to launch a campaign called “Donate Blood, Enjoy CABB at Half-Price,” offering a 50% off CABB taxi service return fare for the blood donors to the National Blood Centre between 1st – 31st July 2021, only from Mondays - Fridays from 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m., except public holidays (limited to 2,000 trips).

To receive a discount code, please call the Thai Red Cross Society at 02-256-4300 or 02-263-9600-99 ext. 1760, 1770, 1752 and CABB driver will take you to your destination at the Thai Red Cross Society. Donors can also request a discount code for their return journey at the Thai Red Cross Society's information desk. CABB service can also be called through the CABB Application, available in both IOS and Android systems at http://onelink.to/nm9qus. Currently, Asia Cab has already started providing CABB Taxis with drivers to service at the Thai Red Cross Society.

“Donate Blood, Enjoy CABB at Half-Price campaign would help provide comfort and confidence for passengers, which will eventually increase the blood donor turnout. This is because CABB taxis maintain hygienic standards and preventive measures against COVID-19 infection through minimized personal contacts. CABB is the only taxi vehicle that has a safety partition between passengers and the driver, whom can be communicated via an intercom. CABB taxis are also designed with separate air conditioning system for the driver and passengers. Cashless Payment can be done via debit card, credit card or mobile banking to limit personal contacts, helping passengers not to worry about the risk of infection on public transport,” affirmed Passakorn

Along with the “Donate Blood, Enjoy CABB at Half-Price” campaign, Asia Cab Company also encourage its employees who are in good health to donate blood at the Thai Red Cross Society, in the hope of combatting the ongoing blood shortage. To begin with, both the executives and employees of Asia Cab, as well as CABB Drivers have joined the community of blood donors.

Piyanan Kumkrong, Assistant Director of Donor Recruitment and Corporate Image of the National Blood Centre, Thai Red Cross Society revealed that National Blood Centre has its core mission to provide sufficient blood supply with safe and highest quality from voluntary blood donors to patients nationwide. 60% of the donated blood will be supplied to hospitals in Bangkok and 40% to other provinces.

77 percent of patients who need blood transfusions are acute blood loss patients, including accident patients and surgery patients who often need a large amount of blood. The remaining 23 percent of blood supply is for patients with blood-related diseases, who need lifelong blood transfusions. In order to meet the demands of patients nationwide, the National Blood Center requires the blood supply target of 2,500–3,000 units per day. However, the ongoing Covid-19 pandemic has led to the dwindling blood donations and the supply levels have reached alarming lows. Knowing that the Asia Cab has launched “Donate Blood, Enjoy CABB at Half-Price” campaign while urging its employees to donate blood, on behalf of the Thai Red Cross Society, I am pleased and very grateful to all those involved in this project as helping hands to increase blood donations and take part in helping all patients who are waiting for blood across the country.
