AIS first in SEA to offer new Cloudian S3-compatible Enterprise object storage with VMware
VMware, Inc. (NYSE: VMW), in partnership with Cloudian, announced that AIS is offering Cloudian S3-compatible Enterprise object storage for VMware Cloud Director environments. AIS, a VMware Cloud Provider Partner, is the first cloud provider in Southeast Asia to offer this solution, empowering organizations with the ability to accelerate their digital transformation to adapt and thrive in Thailand’s increasingly digitalized business environment.
Cloudian Object Storage for VMware Cloud Director is a solution that enables businesses to store unstructured data and scale up to one exabyte without interruption. The solution also provides multi-site, multi-tenant operability and can be managed easily from VMware Cloud Director. The object storage offering will enable AIS to deliver new service offerings for users in areas such as data protection, big data, healthcare, media archives, video surveillance, and more. For their tenant customers, it delivers a best-in-class object storage service fully integrated and delivered through their preferred cloud management platform.
As Thai enterprises accelerate in their digital transformation journeys and begin to innovate new service offerings and business models for the cloud-scale digital era, cloud providers such as AIS will be looking to provide storage-, backup-, archive- and container storage-as-a-Service offerings that are compatible with their needs. Given that many of AIS’ customers already use VMware, AIS also needed to enable seamless integration into the VMware environment.
Mr.Yongsit Rojsrikul, Chief Enterprise Business Officer, AIS said, “With Thai enterprises accelerating their innovation cycles to better compete in the digital economy, we are excited to be the first cloud provider in Thailand to offer Enterprise object storage, S3-compatible, VMware and Cloudian-powered object storage services. The new object storage service will be a key tool in our customers’ resilience armory, which, when combined with our industry-leading cloud offering, means customers have the assurance of limitlessly scalable, robust data storage with more secure, resilient data protection and be better prepared to compete in the cloud-scale digital arena.”
Fully S3-Compatible Storage Platform
Architected from the start to support the S3 API, Cloudian object storage features offers the industry’s most advanced S3 compatibility. This makes it an ideal platform for S3-compatible services offerings and software development.
Storage Management via VMware Cloud Director
All commonly-used storage management functions are accessible via VMware Cloud Director, where users may create users and groups, provision storage, set policies, and monitor usage, all without leaving the VMware Cloud Director user interface (UI). This helps eliminate the console-hopping that brings down productivity and allows management tasks to be automated within the VMware Cloud Director framework.
Brian Burns, Vice President, Asia Pacific at Cloudian, said, “In the hyper-competitive digital arena, businesses face ever-increasing pressures to provide innovative new solutions and services. As the most widely deployed independent provider of object storage systems, Cloudian offers a limitlessly scalable and highly cost-effective foundation for protecting data and leveraging its strategic value. This includes data management and security features that help customers meet the requirements of PDPA.”
Ekpawin Sukanan, Country Manager, VMware Thailand, said, “As organizations in Thailand move forward in their digital transformation journeys, the need for constant innovation while enabling intrinsic security that operates across any cloud, any app and any device has never been more apparent. The new object storage service allows our customers to use the ecosystem of applications, tools and APIs they need to fuel next-gen innovation within their existing VMware environment, with the added capability to provide these through highly secure backup storage and servers. We are excited to be working with AIS in Thailand to bring this solution to life, and enable a era of cloud-scale digital innovation in a more secure digital environment for our customers.”
The new Cloudian software is available from VMware Cloud Provider Partners.
