Silverlake Axis announces appointment of Philip Law as Group CTO

Singapore Exchange Mainboard-listed Silverlake Axis Ltd. (“SAL” or the “Group”) announced the appointment of Mr. Philip Law (“Mr Law”) as Chief Technology Officer (“CTO”), Head of Product and Innovation, effective 20 October 2022.

Mr Law takes his position as CTO at an opportune time, where he can oversee the application of our digital-banking enabling technology to dozens of our flagship customers and many new prospects embarking on their transformation journey,” continued Mr Tan.

 

A technology evangelist with over 25 years of experience in the technology financial services sector, Mr Law is a proven leader with an impeccable track record of delivering solutions and transformation strategies for the digital age, by drawing on his deep knowledge in trade finance, banking and cloud computing architectures.

 

Mr Law graduated from Sheffield University in the UK with a degree in Chemistry. Following a stint as a software developer, Mr Law progressed rapidly to senior roles as head of technology for EMEA Wealth Management Platforms, among others. Mr Law was the lead architect for the HSBC SME Open Banking initiative, converting the bank’s legacy platform to become Open Banking Compliant (PSD2). Mr Law also ran Technology for BAML EMEA Wealth management covering UK, Isle of Man, France, Spain, Italy and Belgium. As part of the acquisition of BAML to Julius Baer, Mr Law had technical oversight of the asset transfer for the bank’s $2 billion assets under management.

 

Mr Law relocated to Singapore in 2018 to become the Head of CIO advisory for KPMG Singapore and subsequently Oliver Wyman covering ASEAN markets. Notable projects he has led in Singapore include the three-year transformation roadmap for the Monetary Authority of Singapore and the launch of the new FCC Data Analytics platform for UOB. As CTO of SAL, Mr Law will represent SAL in communicating product differentiation and strategies to the market, communities and industry at large.

 

In his new role, Mr Law will support Group Managing Director in the following areas:

 

  • Be an outward-facing CTO representing the Group and communicating its product differentiation and strategies to the market, community and industry
  • Influence, guide and provide leadership in setting the Group’s technology and product strategies based upon emerging business models, markets, clients and overall business direction
  • Evaluate emerging technologies and trends, assess the impact on the company’s offerings, identify critical next-generation technologies that will enhance the company’s products and services and implement a road map to uplift these capabilities
  • Be empathetic to customer needs to ensure that the company is closely aligned with its customer’s IT and solutions strategies
